  • Are the pups good with kids/socialized?

YES!! Our pups are snuggled, played with and loved more then you could ever imagine! We have kids ranging from babies - 4 year olds on the Ranch and the pups are SO loved by our family! We also introduce the puppies to different environments around the Ranch - this really helps! There are SO MANY different sounds on the farm too! Tractors, trucks, other animals - you name it!
  • Do you raise puppies for a living?

No! Raising puppies is certainly not all that we do! We are a multi-generational farm & ranch! We work closely with our big family. We raise puppies along side farm & ranching because we LOVE it, our kids love it, and we LOVE the breed! Our dogs actually help us on the farm with cattle days and totally live up the farm life!
  • How do I bring home a Ranch Retriever Puppy?

Good question! We get asked this ALL the time! We are super duper proud of our process so let me tell you all about IT!

    1. Submit an application! This is typically our starting point! We will then contact you within two days to set up a phone conversation. We will get to know each other over the phone and help you to determine the right litter, timing & lines for your sweet family! If you call us first, we will have you fill out an application afterwards :)

    2. Deposit time, yahoo! This secures your spot in the upcoming litter! The deposit is $250. This goes towards the total purchase price, not in addition to.

    3. Once the puppies are born we will send out the PUPPY DAY INFO!!!! See more on puppy day below.

    4. You will fill out the secure "personality profile". This helps us get to know you and your lifestyle more!

    5. PUPPY DAY! Come meet us, the momma & poppas and.. most exciting... the puppies! Before puppy day we do temperament testing and personality assessments. When you arrive we work together to focus your time on the puppies that suit your profile.

    6. After puppy day you will let us know your top three choices, and in the following days we will propose a puppy to you based on your profile, the puppies profile & your bonding!

    7. Puppy pick up / delivery time! We accept the remaining amount the morning of pick up or the day before delivery

    8. You're the proud owner of a Ranc Retriever Puppy and part of the the Ranch Retriever Family!
  • Is Puppy selection by deposit order?

NOOOOOOOO!!!! It is not. We truly believe in helping families find the right fit! We want the person who places the last deposit to have as much privilege to the right family member as the first person! We have a great process for this! We have you fill out a personality profile prior to puppy day. This helps us get to know you! We also do temperament testing and personality profiles of each puppy. After you leave puppy day you give us your top choices. From there, based on all the info we've received we will propose a puppy to you. No one knows these little crazy poof balls more then us, so we love to be part of the process! This is the best way we can come up with. Other wise - its by deposit order, which means very little about personality - or we dictate which puppy you get. We believe this is the best of both worlds!
  • How do we send deposit/ payment?

E-transfer is our definite preferred method! We can accept cash as well, but if you can do e-transfer... then lets do that!
  • Can we come back to visit the Ranch?

OHMYGOODNESS YES!!!!!!! We just LOVE all our families, all our puppies AND parties! In fact - exciting news - summer 2020 we plan to host RETURN TO THE RANCH! This will be a super, super fun day filled with goldens (bring yours!), farm tours, quad rides, petting zoo, a BBQ, opportunities to look at & sit in a combine & so.much.more. We can't wait to see the litters together and how all our pooches are growing. Its not just about raising puppies for us. It's about cultivating a family.
  • What if we can't make it to puppy day to do distance / scheduling conflicts?

Don't worry! We often have families across the country who can't fly out for puppy day! We have a great process for this too! You can expect lots of extra personal time on the phone going over the puppies. A video of each puppy and the puppies interacting, as well as individual photos!
  • I don't live in Alberta, can I still get a puppy?

You Betcha! We fly puppies around the province all the time! This isn't an issue! Flight costs range from $180-$400 depending on the airline we use. This include our travel to the airport, a crate, the flight, the extra health certification exam & certificate of travel.
  • What if I give a deposit but cannot take the puppy anymore?

It is not refundable... wa-waaaaaaaa. HOWEVER - good news! We understand life happens and things come up! It's transferable! We can totally transfer to another litter no problem! This does not expire - its a lifelong transfer! If you've given a deposit it means we've taken time to get to know you and go through your application. We've likely spent lots of time communicating. Although we LOOOOOOOVE being social and chatting lots (as you'll see!) we still need to be compensated for our time.
  • What comes with my puppy?

    Pups come with the following!
    - Microchip & Tag
    - First round of Vaccinations
    - Several rounds of De-worming
    - Vet check & book of proof/record
    - Sample bag of Dog food
    - 1 Year Genetic Health Guarantee (this is a signed agreement to be signed to be in effect)
  • What food are the puppies on when they come home?

TLC We love this food. Visit "puppy food page for more info or ask us... we'd love to chat about this!!.
  • Can I breed my puppy?

Ah. The short answer is - No. In an effort to be responsible breeders - we typically sell our puppies on a non-breeding spay/neuter contract. We will sometimes give out breeding rights dependent on the lines & the situation... but very, very rarely! We are focused on raising puppies for family pets, hunting companions & therapy dogs! :)
  • When should I spay/neuter my pup?

This question. It's a big one. The answer we typically give is "ask your vet". HOWEVER, I CAN tell you NO EARLIER then 6 months, and NO LATER then 14 months. This is stipulated in the non-breeding contract & the Health Guarantee which you will sign before brining home your new family member!
