Dearest Families!!!
Now for the not-so-fun part of raising puppies... the contracts! Once you've been chosen as one of our new families we have you sign our "puppy contract"... WAIT, WHAT? A contract for a puppy... that is crazy! We KNOW.. but hear us out... once you see the why we hope it doesn't sound to crazy!
It is our deepest desire to be a responsible breeder, to have our dogs, our puppies, our family and your family protected. We fall deeply in love with each puppy from every litter... we spend endless hours socializing and playing with our pups! The non-breeding, spay & neuter contract protects the pups from ending up in a bad situation. (We are not crazy dog people, we promise!). In the end, we have screened our new families well and this has rarely been an "issue" as our homes are always looking for pets anyway!
Our main objective is to raise high quality puppies for families... we love our dogs, puppies and new families and want the best for everyone involved! Our contract is not a crazy thing where we own half your puppy or anything - it simply states that the pups will not be bred and will be spayed and neutered to protect them! We hope that this clarifies things and takes away the scariness of a contract.
The second part of the contract is our health guarantee. THIS MUST BE SIGNED TO BE IN EFFECT! It also states that the guarantee is only valid to the original purchaser of the puppy, and that the spay neuter must be followed to remain valid. (no earlier then 6 months, no later then 14 months). In the unlikely event a guarantee must be put into place - Ranch Retrievers is never liable for more then purchase price of your puppy. Under no circumstances will we be liable for vet bills etc. This is also included in the contract. In the unlikely event a pup develops a genetic disorder after the proper procedure we will offer a refund or a replacement puppy. Full details are in the contract. Previously, this guarantee was optional to new owners - however - as of this year (summer 2019) we have also decided that in order to take home one of our puppies this MUST be signed - not left up as an option. The main reason is - we've added section in regards to re-homing. If for some reason your dog cannot be kept in your home, we ask for the first right to purchase the dog back at 1/2 the original purchase price depending on age etc. Alternatively we will help facilitate a re-home to another family working together for a "private adoption" :)
The main difference is that we now have one contract with both the non-breeding & health guarantee included alternatively to two separate contracts which are "optional".
A Genetic Guarantee is in place for issues that can without doubt be traced to genetics from the parents. Things that cannot be "bred out" or tested for as a genetic trait are not covered. Our Guarantee is strictly for hip & elbow dysplasia - heart and eye issues. It doesn't (of course) cover issues that arrive outside of this scope (example: injury, infections, food allergies/sensitives etc.). Log into our family zone or request a contract to see full details!
We would LOVE to chat with you further on the phone about it if you have concerns in regards to the contract!
Copies of the contract, viewed and downloaded in our "family zone". You receive access to this area when you are one of our new families! If you are looking to purchase a pup from us and would like to see a copy before sending a deposit we would also be very happy to send one to you! We don't want this to be scary...but it's important that we do take care of this paperwork! In the unlikely event that an issue presents... it protects everyone involved - and it holds us to a higher standard. Without a contract there is nothing we can do to help and we are not held accountable to anything. This is why a contract is so important! It really is what's best for you.
Thanks for taking time to read this important message!
